BESPOKE JEWELLERY DESIGN
Commissioning a bespoke piece of jewellery is an opportunity to have something made entirely for you. I take a collaborative approach to design; whether it’s modifying one of my existing pieces or creating something completely new, together we’ll design something special and made to last.

I also remodel jewellery that you’ve inherited or simply no longer wear, giving it a new lease of life. My aim is always to create jewellery that you’ll wear, enjoy, and treasure.

How it works
CONVERSATION
Bespoke jewellery design begins with a chat. This can be in person at my studio, or at home over Zoom. Together, we’ll develop your ideas and talk through any special features or feelings you want to include in the final piece.

This is the ideal time to bring any jewellery you’re thinking of remodelling. I’m very happy to re-use sentimental metal and stones, I just need to check they’re suitable. We’ll also talk about the materials I can supply, as well as your budget.

I’ll make notes and sketches as we go, laying the foundations of the design for your commission. (There’s no obligation until a final design is agreed).

DESIGN
I’ll spend some time with the ideas and probably let a cup of tea go cold while I contemplate . I’ll work on the sketches and develop them into scale drawings of a finished piece (or a few drawings for you to choose from).

At this point I can accurately cost the commission and will give you options to fit your budget. I can also source a selection of gemstones for you to view.

When you’ve seen the drawings, they can, of course, be adjusted to fine tune the design.

Once the final design is agreed I ask for a 50% deposit to begin work on your commission.
CREATING
With a design agreed it’s on to the making. Bespoke commissions typically take 8-12 weeks to complete. I’ll work accurately to the design that you have agreed and can send pictures to you as it comes to life.

At some point in the process, I’ll pause so the piece can be hallmarked. Once finished, I’ll pack it in a Becca Williams jewellery box ready for collection or delivery.

The remaining 50% balance is payable once the piece is finished.

A NOTE ON PRICING

One of the first questions many people ask is how much will their commission cost. The answer is that I don't know until I draw it and figure out how to make it.

The price of a commission is dictated by its complexity, the costs of the materials and the cost of the processes involved. I've put together a guide to give you an idea of starting costs.
